How to light a black Lab, Newfie, or Schipperke so workshop lights and fireplace glow do not turn the dog into a silhouette.

Turn the tree lights off, face a window or a single warm lamp, and expose for the face rather than the bulbs. Then run Santa's Workshop, Winter Wonderland, or Cozy Fireplace. The look can add twinkle, but it cannot recover a black dog that was never lit.
